The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce Brady Shields of the Southwest Cougars as the CCM Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending January 25.
Brady delivered an outstanding performance this weekend, earning a shootout victory against the league’s first-place Winnipeg Bruins. He was composed and confident in the crease, stopping 31 of 33 shots through regulation and overtime before turning aside 5 of 6 shooters in the shootout.
A native of Brandon, Brady attends Vincent Massey High School and is a prospect for the Steinbach Pistons (MJHL). Over his last 4 starts, Brady has posted an impressive .941 save percentage, highlighting his consistency and reliability between the pipes for the Cougars.
Beyond the numbers, Brady is a high-character player and a strong presence within the team. He is a vocal leader both on the ice and in the locker room, communicates effectively in the net, and leads by example with his preparation and work ethic. A great teammate and an even better person, Brady embodies everything you want in a goaltender and a leader.
