The Manitoba U18AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce Gavin Anderson of the Southwest Cougars as the CCM Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending September 27.
Gavin, a 16 year old forward from Glenboro Mb., was a key contributor for the Cougars on their opening weekend road trip to Kenora. The second-year Cougar and Virden Oil Capitals prospect lead the team to two wins, contributing 3 goals and 1 assist. Gavin was a difference-maker every time he stepped on the ice, producing offensively while continuing to play a responsible 200-foot game.
What makes Gavin stand out is his hockey IQ and reliability. He consistently makes smart plays in all three zones, can be trusted in any situation, and brings a strong work ethic every shift. Despite being only 16, he is relied upon as a leader by both coaches and teammates, setting the Cougar standard on and off the ice.
