The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is happy to announce Jake Beaty of the Southwest Cougars as the CCM Hockey Player of the Week, for the week ending Oct.5.
The right handed shot defenseman made an immediate impact in his U18 AAA debut this past week. The Virden native and Lethbridge Hurricanes draft pick kicked off his season with a goal in his first game this past Wednesday. He followed that up with a goal and an assist in Saturday’s thrilling comeback win, and capped off the weekend with another assist in Sunday’s victory with a highlight-reel pass. Jake finished his first week of U18 AAA hockey with 4 points in 3 games and was a +3. He showcased poise, vision, and playmaking ability, as well as playing crucial minutes for an injury riddled Cougar team, averaging 25 minutes per game through the week. He helped the Cougars pick up 5 of 6 points this week vs the Pembina Valley Hawks in a mini 3 game in season series. Jake was recently named to Team Manitoba U16 that will compete in Red Deer later this month.
