Ryler Gates

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce goaltender Ryler Gates of the Pembina Valley Hawks as the CCM Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending January 12.

This past week Ryler played some great hockey and picked up two big wins for the Hawks.  On Tuesday Ryler stopped 34 of 35 shots in a 3-1 win over the Central Plains Capitals.  On Sunday, he was again very solid, stopping 45 of 47 shots in a 5-2 over the Eastman Selects.  Ryler’s stats for the week were 2-0 with a 1.50 GAA and a 964 SV%.   “Ryler was awesome in both his starts this week making hard saves look routine, his rebound control was very good, and he gave us a chance to win.  Ryler has been a rock for us this year and has picked up some big wins for our team and we will need him to continue with his strong play for us to keep being successful”, said Hawks Coach Jeff Andrews. In 20 games this season Ryler has a 7-8-0-2-1 record, with a 3.66 G.A.A and a 900SV%.  Ryler is a 16-year-old Grade 10 student at Carman Collegiate in Carman, Mb.  His MJHL rights are held by the Winkler Flyers and his WHL rights are held by the Tri City Americans.
