Ryler Gates

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce Ryler Gates of the Pembina Hawks as the CCM Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending February 23.

It was a busy weekend for Ryler as he earned three huge wins for the Hawks which helped his team clinch a playoff spot.  Ryler went 3-0 with a 1.65 G.A.A and a .933 save percentage.  Hawks coach Jeff Andrews has this to say about Ryler’s weekend performance.  “On Friday Ryler stopped 19 of 20 shots in a 6-1 win over Kenora.  Ryler followed that performance up by back stopping the Hawks to 3-2 OT win over the Winnipeg Thrashers.  This was a huge win for us as it clinched us a playoff spot.  On Sunday Ryler was very solid in a 3-2 win over the Winnipeg Bruins.  This was another pivotal win for us to gain more confidence heading into the playoffs as the Bruins will be our first-round match up.    Ryler was awesome all weekend and it is super exciting for us to have him playing such good hockey heading into our most important part of the season”.  Ryler is a 16-year-old Grade 10 student at Carman Collegiate in Carman, Mb.  His MJHL rights are held by the Winkler Flyers and his WHL rights are held by the Tri City Americans.
