The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce Tate Barnaby as the CCM Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending January 18.
The 16 year old from Winnipeg delivered an outstanding weekend in goal, earning two wins and playing a pivotal role in both victories.
Against the Brandon Wheat Kings, Tate stopped 33 of 34 shots in regulation and overtime and was perfect in the shootout, going 2-for-2 to secure a 2–1 shootout win, finishing the game with a .971 save percentage. He followed that performance with another strong outing against the Winnipeg Wild, turning aside 48 of 50 shots in a 6–2 win, good for a .960 save percentage.
Over the weekend, Tate showed exceptional composure, consistency, and competitiveness, providing the team with confidence and stability in the crease. His ability to rise to the moment in high-pressure situations was a key factor in the team’s success.
Off the ice, Tate is a Grade 11 student at Collège Sturgeon Heights Collegiate. The 5’9″ goaltender is signed with the Dauphin Kings of the MJHL for the 2026–2027 season.
