Players of the Month

FEBRUARY 2025

Forward

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce Mason Mykichuk of the Winnipeg Thrashers as the CCM Hockey Forward of the Month for the month of February. The Winnipeg Thrashers finished the month of February going 7-2-1 over their last 10 games while finding their way to a 4th place finish and Mason Mykichuk was a huge contributor to the Thrashers success as he picked up 10 goals and 15 assists for 25pts during that span, Mason, who missed 15 games due to injury, finished the season with 60 points on 25 goals and 35 assists for third in team scoring behind his linemates Crosby Harrison and Ryden Duchon. Mason, whom is one of our alternate captains, is in Grade 11 and attends River East Collegiate. He is currently affiliated with the Tri Cities Americans of the Western Hockey League and Norman Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

Defenceman

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is happy to announce Connor Zuk of the Winnipeg Wild as the CCM Hockey Defenseman of the Month for the month of February. Connor is a 16-year-old playing in his second season with the U18 Wild and an assistant captain with the team. The 6’ 160lb defenseman is a key contributor with his steady play from the back end and has played a big part with the Wild’s success this season. During the month of February Connor scored 2 times and added 6 assists for a total of 8 points in the month. He finished second in points for defenseman with the Wild during the regular season scoring 5 times and adding 23 assists for a total of 28 points in 47 games. He also finished the season with a plus/minus rating of +44 and he is relied upon on to play in all critical situations with the team. Connor is a grade 11 student at St. Paul’s High School and is a listed player with Winkler in the MJHL.

Goaltender

Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce Ryler Gates of the Pembina Valley Hawks as the CCM Hockey Goaltender of the Month for the month of February. During the month of February Ryler started 5 games, his record was 4W-0L-0-1.  He also had one relief appearance.  Over that span he posted a 3.14 G.A.A and a .903SV%.  His wins came against Eastman, Kenora, Thrashers and the Bruins.  Pembina Valley Head Coach Jeff Andrews had this to say about Ryler.  “Ryler competes hard every start and always gives us a chance to win. He has shown incredible resilience this season and has been a leader between the pipes for us all year long.  I am excited to see how far Ryler’s strong play will carry the Hawks into the playoffs”. Ryler is a 16-year-old Grade 11 student at Carman Collegiate in Carman, Mb.  His MJHL rights are held by the Winkler Flyers and his WHL rights are held by the Tri City Americans.
