2023 – 2024 LEAGUE AWARDS & ALL-STARS

The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce the 2023-2024 League Awards and All-Stars, as voted on by coaches.

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

JAXON JACOBSON, Brandon Wheat Kings

The 5’9″, 162 pound, centre has shown the hockey community time after time why he is one of the most elite 15 year olds in the country. In his second season with the team, Jacobson put up an astonishing 95 points in just 32 games played. (34 goals, 61 assists). Jaxon currently leads the league in points and assists. Drafted 5th overall to his hometown Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL), Jaxon’s offensive contributions have been instrumental in his teams success this year. He works hard to fine tune his defensive game and get ready for the WHL.

MOST OUTSTANDING DEFENCEMAN

KAESON FISHER, Brandon Wheat Kings

The second year defencemen has found his complete game this year. Known as an offensively skilled d-man, Fisher continues to improve in all areas, including away from the puck. The 6th round pick of the Everette Silvertips (WHL) has  48 points (7-41) through 41 games. He leads all defencemen in that category, and is tied for 10th in the league overall.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

MADDOX MALMQUIST, Winnipeg Thrashers

The first year forward has 24 goals (8th) and 23 assists in 41 games this season. He is second in team scoring and 12th overall in the league. Selected by the Regina Pats (WHL) in the 8th round, Malmquist has been an offensive force for the Thrashers this season.

HOCKEY ABILITY AND SPORTSMANSHIP

BRADY TURKO, Brandon Wheat Kings

In his second year with the Wheat Kings, Brady has taken big strides in his development. In 40 games, he has 40 goals (1st) and 47 assists (2nd). Brady is one of Brandon’s most disciplined players with only 28 penalty minutes. He’s been called up to affiliate with the WHL’s Brandon Wheat Kings (5th round) a few times this season and is set to challenge for a roster spot next season.

COACH OF THE YEAR

JUSTIN VALENTINO, Norman Northstars

Justin is in his first year as head coach of the Northstars. He has been instrumental in redirecting the program, recruiting players from the north, and guiding the Northstars into playoff contention. With Justin at the helm, the Northstars are 18-22-1 through 42 games and hold the 2nd best power play in the league (21.5%).
