The Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League is pleased to announce Koen Bleznuk of the Pembina Valley Hawks as the CCM Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending December 21.
This week Koen went 2-0-0 in two big wins for the Hawks versus the Eastman Selects and the Winnipeg Thrashers. On Saturday, Koen made 45 saves on 48 shots defeating the Selects 6-3. Koen continued his great play on Sunday stopping 59 of 60 shots in a 3-1 win over the Thrashers. Over the weekend Koen had a 2.00 G.A.A and a .960SV%. Pembina Valley Head Coach Jeff Andrews had this to say about Koen: “Koen competes hard every start and is working towards finding more consistency in his game. Koen has shown incredible resiliency throughout this season and has emerged as leader between the pipes for us here in December. I am excited to see Koen’s development continue as I think he has the potential to be the top goaltender in this league”. Koen is a 17-year-old Grade 12 student at Garden Valley Collegiate in Winkler, Mb. He is currently unlisted.
